Staying physically and mentally healthy is a constant struggle. Like many men I maintained an image of myself which had become outdated and more favorable than the current reality. After many years of education and training, the traveler from college had not been doing much traveling; the runner and biker from medical school had become less active; the hiker and adventure-seeker had spent more time indoors than outdoors.
Life was busy and my new family and career required a lot of my time. At the same time I knew that I would be the best husband, father, and doctor if I was the best and healthiest me. No matter how hard I tried to rationalize or delay change, I knew there is never a better or easier time than the present.
I know that these realizations experiences are not unique to me. Many men suddenly realize that they are not who, or where they pictured themselves to be. I wanted to design a place where men can come and instead of lament how far they have veered from who they want to be, be empowered to make the journey of taking their life back.
There will never be an easier time then now. You just have to take the first step. The journey of a thousand miles (or a hundred pounds) begins with just one visit.
